Benefits of Teen Drug Rehab Center

Posted by admin On May - 2 - 2011

Benefits of Teen Drug Rehab CenterIf your child has been into drug abuse, it is high time that you take him or her to a teen drug rehab. This is because only a timely intervention can help all of you to lead a peaceful life, which is free from any chemical dependency.

Before we read any further, it is important for us to note that there are no quick fixes for drug abuse and recovery may become an ongoing process. Moreover, the family needs to understand the plight and emotions of the child and make necessary steps so that the rehabilitation treatment is integrated into everyday life without constantly reminding the child that he has committed a mistake.

A teen drug rehab center can help your teenage child receive quality and continuing care from experts so that the recovery process can be supported and monitored at all times. A drug rehabilitation treatment center provides treatment programs such as inpatient, residential, outpatient, and short-stay options that meet individual needs and can be more than just useful for bringing back your teen child into the right mood. The drug rehab will help your teen child defeat the urge to consume drugs and recover completely – mentally, physically, and emotionally. Furthermore, the individual-specific rehab programs at these centers will help in nurturing, supporting, and encouraging the teenager to overcome addiction and look at the brighter side of life.

As the parent(s) of the child, even you can seek advice on how to deal with your child’s drug abuse from a drug rehab counselor. It will also help you get out of the catastrophic revelation that your son or daughter has been struggling with drug abuse and erode thoughts of guilt, disappointment, failure, and embarrassment from your mind so that you can give your best to overcome teen drug abuse in the present and future.

Breastfeeding make baby brighter

Breastfeeding make baby brighterScientists have suggested that babies who are breastfed grow up to be more intelligent.

Research has revealed that just four weeks on their mothers’ milk could have a significant effect on a child’s development in primary and secondary school.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

Those who have been breastfed do better at reading, writing and maths at the ages of five, seven, 11 and 14.

While breast milk has long been known to boost babies’ immunity, helping them fight ear infections, stomach bugs and even asthma, little was known about its effects on intelligence until now.

Maria Iacovou, one of the authors of the study, said: ‘The issue was that while it looked as though breastfeeding did have an impact on cognitive development, no one knew if that was just because the type of mother more likely to breastfeed in the first place was more likely to nurture brighter children, or whether there was a true causal link.

The study was conducted by researchers from Oxford University and the Institute for Social and Economic Research at the University of Essex.

Light flash to brain can banish fear

Light flash to brain can banish fearMillions across the world suffer from the daily torture of anxiety but a brain mechanism that was recently identified by scientists can make them fearless.

Stimulating a brain circuit within a structure of grey matter could counter fear, according to researchers at Stanford University in California.

From Dailymail.co.uk:

Tests on mice showed triggering the mechanism with pulses of light boosted their willingness to take risks – while inhibiting it rendered them more timid.

Psychiatrist Professor Karl Deisseroth said the finding opened the possibility of improved medications to help control anxiety disorders because the human brain is structured in the same way.

The team were able to pinpoint the phenomenon by working with a technology called optogenetics, where nerve cells are rendered photo-sensitive so their action can be turned on or off by different wavelengths of light.

They targeted a circuit within the amygdala region of the brain and found dramatic changes in the behaviour of mice.

Prof Deisseroth, whose research is published in Nature online, said: ‘They suddenly became much more comfortable in situations they would ordinarily perceive as dangerous and, therefore, be quite anxious in.’

The revelation comes as a blessing for all those people who are suffering regular panic attacks or almost constant ‘nervous’ symptoms such as sweating, raised heart rate and churning stomach.

I just could not stand the idea of eating meat – I really do think that it has made me calmer….  People’s general awareness is getting much better, even down to buying a pint of milk:  the fact that the calves are actually killed so that the milk doesn’t go to them but to us cannot really be right, and if you have seen a cow in a state of extreme distress because it cannot understand why its calf isn’t by, it can make you think a lot. – Kate Bush

Our body is a machine for living. It is organized for that, it is its nature. Let life go on in it unhindered and let it defend itself, it will do more than if you paralyze it by encumbering it with remedies. – Leo Tolstoy

Health is a large word. It embraces not the body only, but the mind and spirit as well;… and not today’s pain or pleasure alone, but the whole being and outlook of a man. – James H. West

One farmer says to me, “You cannot live on vegetable food solely, for it furnishes nothing to make the bones with;” and so he religiously devotes a part of his day to supplying himself with the raw material of bones; walking all the while he talks behind his oxen, which, with vegetable-made bones, jerk him and his lumbering plow along in spite of every obstacle. – Henry David Thoreau

Young men are trusting Botox more than ever

Young men are trusting Botox more than everWrinkles, forehead creases, crow’s feet, and bunny lines are not related to women alone. An increasing number of men are opting for anti-aging treatments such as Botox for staying good at the workplace or to match their partners in physical appearance.

Health experts say that the age of treatment for men starts as early as 35 and the reasons include pressure to look good and avoid premature wrinkles caused because of high stress levels.

From in.news.yahoo.com:

‘An increasing number of men between 35 years and 60 years are opting for Botox procedure to fight the signs of ageing. Over the past five years, I would say, the demand has increased almost 200 percent,’ Navin Taneja, director of the National Skin Institute in New Delhi, told IANS.

‘The majority of men are executives between 40 and 45 years,’ he added.

Botox is a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles, giving the face a rejuvenated and youthful appearance. It is injected by a simple non-surgical procedure.

‘The protein called Botulinum type A (Bot-A) is injected in the facial muscles, which stretches them and reduces wrinkles and sagging skin. The effects last for about 6-8 months,’ said Mumbai-based dermatologist Satish Bhatia, of Cooperage Clinic.

‘Botox can be used to relax the forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, bunny lines, gummy smiles, and for reshaping eyebrows and jaws. The whole procedure takes between 15 and 30 minutes and is not painful at all,’ he added.

‘For men at the top management level, their job profile is such that they always have to look fresh and good, and with so much stress and hard work often frown lines appear on the face. A lot of such men are coming to us and asking for removing the frowns,’ Taneja said.

Meenakshi Agarwal, a Mumbai-based cosmetic surgeon, believes that Botox will continue to stay popular as people look to fight signs of aging.

Health Care law coverage confuses families for young adults

Health Care law coverage confuses families for young adultsA new rule for middle-class and middle-age voters has suggested that young adults without health insurance will soon be able to remain on health care plan of their parents until they cross the age of 26 years.

It was, however, noted by the Obama administration that this provision is expected to help millions. The benefits, though, is proving less immediate than many families expected.

From Washingtonpost.com:

According to the law, health plans don’t have to comply until their first renewal date after Sept. 23. For some plans, that’s as soon as October. For many, it’s January. For others, the compliance date won’t be until May.

That means many college seniors whose parents’ health plans allowed them to stay on until they graduated this spring may face a gap in coverage until the new requirement kicks in.

Soon after the law was passed, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius called on insurers to close the gap by complying with the law early in such cases. More than 60 major insurance companies and several large employers agreed to do so.

But just because an insurer offers to keep new graduates on the plan doesn’t mean the employer subscribing to the plan will take the insurer up on the option.

Experts are of the view that parents as employers and insurance companies will continue getting more rude awakenings in times to come once the need to offset the added costs of covering these workers’ children longer into adulthood will arise.
