People choose to detox either when they feel like they’ve gained an unnecessary amount of weight, after the holidays or when they just want to drop a few pounds. There are tons of detox programs available for people with any reason to detox, all providing you with the same result. What a lot of people don’t realize is that you can easily detox without any expensive products or nutritionists monitoring you. Here are seven of the simplest ways to detox your body without spending tons of money.
Cut out sugar
We all know that excess amounts of sugar is bad for us. Generally throughout the year it’s pretty easy to resist the urge to consume sugar, however during holidays such as Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas, sugary treats surround us and it’s much more difficult to say no. In order to keep your body healthy from the inside out, a seasonal detox is suggested to clear your body of toxins. This in turn will also speed up metabolism and enhance your overall health.
Drink lemon water
Water is necessary for purification and a clean system. If you mix the juice from half of a lemon into a tall glass of water every morning, it will help to re-hydrate your system and allow for better digestion.
This is one of those tips where you’re probably thinking “duhh”. The reason we suggest exercise for detox, aside from the obvious, is that regular exercise helps circulation in your blood and lymph system, which enhances digestion, reduces tension, lubricates joints and overall strengthens your body. If you already exercise regularly, you’re definitely on the right track to keeping your body pure and reducing your level of toxins in your system.
Enjoy a cup of tea
Tea is usually associated with being sick since it’s soothing on your throat and is light on your stomach. In reality, tea is something you should be drinking on a daily basis because of it’s incredible antioxidants and hydrating powers. The more tea you drink, the less likely you will be to overeat or even make bad decisions with food. One more great thing about tea is that while some of it still has caffeine, it’s different than the caffeine you’ll find in coffee. Tea is much gentler on your stomach and gives you the little pick-me-up without the shakes and jitters that coffee can sometimes give you.
Avoid environmental pollutants
Pollution and allergens are surrounding us, but that doesn’t mean you have to let it affect your health. Since these pollutants are all around us, they can easily trigger allergy symptoms. By flushing your nasal passages regularly with something such as a Neti Pot, you can eliminate some of the side effects of air pollutants, which can lead to better breathing naturally.
Get your sweat on in a sauna
There’s nothing quite like sweating in the sauna. That’s why it’s suggested that if you’re looking to detox, you should visit a sauna regularly. This is because sauna’s allow you to rid your toxins naturally just by sweating, which is really the easiest thing you can do during a detox.
You might think that brushing your skin is weird or don’t like to see your dead skin rub off, but in reality, exfoliation is incredibly healthy, especially for detoxing. By brushing your skin and getting oil massages, these will help to exfoliate the toxins that are found in your skin and can even help to refresh circulation.
Detoxing isn’t quite as difficult as you thought it was, now is it? If you only see yourself doing just a couple of these options, you’ll be on track to a cleaner, purer self. If it’s something you’ve never done before, don’t push yourself to do all of these detoxes at once. Take your time and slowly adapt to the detox, you’ll feel better in no time!
