Yoga – the religion of tranquility! For most of us Yoga is a practice that helps maintain good physical health. We often consider its ability to soothes the mind as an added benefit. But beyond that how many of us really know what yoga actually means or the right way to practice it?

Yoga ideally means ‘union’. Union here means oneness with one’s true self, one’s true nature or god as many call it. Each one of us are caught up with problems of our own world which never seem to have an end. Someone’s seen to suffer from health problems, some from depression, some from wealth issues and some because of career concerns. Once one problem ends, the other one seems to start from nowhere. It seems like a big never-ending vicious circle of which we stay as victims. Have you ever thought of breaking lose from this bondage of extreme suffering? Have you ever thought where is all this suffering leading you to? What is your purpose in life? How will your problems end or will they actually ever end?

I’m sure many of us do think about these matters at some stage of our life. But then not knowing where to really go or do, we again get caught in our rat race of making our ends meet.

When I sit and ponder over the main root cause for all the troubles humanity is confronting today, the only thing that comes to me again and again is lack of tolerance. We lack harmony and tranquility of our minds. Though we may never out rightly harm anyone in spirit, some form of negativity always holds our mind and hearts and when its magnitude increases, it finally starts manifesting itself in the form of physical ailments.

This is where the role of yoga comes in. Above healing us physically and mentally, yoga brings us closer to our main goal in life and that is to be happy. Practicing it the right way can heal us of all our worries and suffering, bringing us in a state of complete peace with our self and our environment. Yoga nurtures the soul. It not only cures our ailments but also uproots the root causes of all the problems we are confronting.

Learning all about it and practicing it the right way demands an able teacher or a guru. Only a good teacher can guide you through a proper channel of utilizing your energies for your holistic development. So if you really want to improve the quality of your life, get in touch with a proficient teacher to get your journey started.
