Dealing with stress!

Stress can be addressed as our response to the pressures that we confront from the outer world. It mainly shows itself in the form of emotional strain which gradually starts engulfing our physical health as well. In present times, almost every person is seen to suffer from one form of stress or other. If we keep employing checks and measures to control it, we can stay unaffected but the moment we fail in doing so, it can take really gross dimensions and start affecting even our relationships – at home, at work and at social places. There are times when we are ourselves not aware of the way we react to certain things. Thus before your stress reactions become chronic, you should identify how it is that you can combat it and start acting. Written below are some ways to go about it that might help you in the same.
Identify what triggers you!
Identifying the root cause which actually triggers your stress reaction is the first step towards controlling stress. Most of the times, only our stress reactions catch our attention whereas we lose track of the reason which actually cause it. It then becomes like a chain reaction when we continue to get irritated on everything that we confront once it gets triggered. For example, if our day starts with getting mad at the traffic while going to office, we will continue to get irritated over anything that we come across that day. Here our stress came out in the form of anger. So you should make note that something as simple as traffic can create negative ripples in your mind. However, work pressures form one of the major reasons of stress in present times. Hence it is first important to identify the source from where your stress arises.
Don’t analyze too much!
Sometimes our own habits become a cause of the stress we confront. When anything unlike happens with us, we keep thinking about it endlessly. We keep thinking about why a particular thing happened to us, how such a thing could happen to us etc. These thoughts continue to create negative reactions in our mind, making us vulnerable and susceptible to similar triggers. So the key here is to stop analyzing a situation too much. The best way is to take things in your stride; nothing in life is permanent, everything has a life and so does any problem. If a problem stays in your life for a long time, its magnitude will reduce over time. So be assured and don’t get subdued because of stress in any way.
These are some basic but effective measures which will help you identify and act upon the areas which cause you stress. My forth coming posts will contain more tips on dealing with stress. Until then, keep smiling and stay healthy!
